Animation is becoming an increasingly visible trend in brand communication. Compared to traditional live-action videos, animated content often achieves higher engagement thanks to its ability to simplify complex ideas, amplify emotions, and create visuals that go beyond the limits of reality.

So how are brands using animation in advertising today? Let’s look back at 10 standout projects produced by DeeDee Animation Studio over the years. Each project represents a different approach, showing how animation can become a powerful tool for making products and campaigns more memorable.

Animated TVCs

TVC for New Packaging

Project: Vinamilk ADM

Client: Vinamilk

Year: 2025

Vinamilk ADM is a product line that has gone viral multiple times thanks to its catchy songs and eye-catching commercials. This time, the challenge was not only to create a new TVC, but also to meet the audience’s expectations while introducing the brand new product packaging.

Using color palettes matched to each milk flavor, DeeDee combined a cast of mascot cows including astronaut cows, football-player cows, doctor cows, and graduate cows. The biggest challenge was designing characters that felt cute enough for children while still looking natural, expressive, and full of personality. Fast-paced editing, dynamic camera movements, and playful animation helped maintain the energy throughout the entire TVC.

Even as a short commercial, the version uploaded on YouTube reached more than 14 million views. DeeDee later continued collaborating with the brand on promotional visuals for gift campaigns tied to the product line.

Comic-Style Animation TVC Riding a Global Trend

Project: VF3 Create your own style

Client: VinFast

Year: 2023

Inspired by the global rise of comic-style animation following the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, this project used a bold comic-book visual language to highlight the key features of the VF3 car model.

The style perfectly matched the young target audience of the VF3 — consumers who value convenience, personality, and modern lifestyles. Strong transitions, animated typography, and music-driven pacing helped communicate technical specifications in a visually engaging way rather than a dry, informational format.

Animated Music Videos

A Music Video Promoting a Lunar New Year Campaign

Project: Tết Đủ Đầy, Cả Nhà Thấy Vui Là Được

Client: FC Mobile Vietnam

Year: 2026

For FC Mobile’s Lunar New Year campaign, DeeDee handled the full production of an animated music video for a song performed by Captain Boy.

The biggest challenge was the extremely tight schedule: the entire project had to be completed within a single week during the peak pre-Tết period. Beyond the time pressure, the team also had to transform the real-life artist into an animated character while preserving expressions, movements, and the energetic spirit of the song.

The animation sequences were carefully synchronized with the music’s rhythm, resulting in a highly energetic final product.

The MV has since surpassed 12 million views on YouTube.

Official Theme Song MV for the International AIC 2020 Tournament

Project: Let Victory Make History

Client: Garena

Year: 2020

This animated music video was created for the official theme song of the 2020 international Arena of Valor tournament.

The project brought together two breakout names from Season 1 of Rap Việt: Rhymastic and GDucky, delivering a high-energy track that perfectly matched the intense atmosphere of esports competition. As a result, the visuals also needed to meet a similarly ambitious standard.

Within just over three minutes, DeeDee had to carefully recreate iconic moments from previous tournament seasons so that longtime fans could instantly recognize them within seconds. The MV featured seven large-scale action sequences with multiple characters appearing simultaneously, along with skills and weapons that had to remain faithful to the game itself. All of the character designs were also designed base on well-known professional players in the esports scene.

To achieve international-quality motion, DeeDee relied heavily on hand-drawn animation techniques throughout the pipeline, producing more than 4,000 frames. This represented an enormous workload, especially during the COVID lockdown period, yet the team successfully delivered the project. The MV later reached nearly 2 million views on YouTube.

Live-Action TVCs Combined With Animation

Project: UPZI

Client: VietnamWorks

Year: 2025

This project combined live-action footage with 2D animated environments.

One unique challenge was that the production team did not yet have access to the official actor footage when animation work began. To ensure accurate interaction between the actors and the animated elements, DeeDee proactively filmed demo footage using stand-in performers as references for the animation process.

This approach helped maintain natural interactions and smooth visual continuity while significantly expanding the creative possibilities of the TVC.

The team had roughly one month to complete the 45-second commercial. Although the production timeline moved quickly, the project became valuable experience for DeeDee in producing hybrid live-action and animation advertising content.

In addition to the main TVC, DeeDee also developed a set of animated GIF stickers for the brand mascot.

Hybrid 2D & 3D TVCs

Project: Milo - Tích thẻ vũ trụ, đổi quà năng động

Client: Nestle Milo Vietnam

Year: 2022

This commercial combined live-action performance, 2D animated characters, and 3D objects within a single video lasting under one minute.

The biggest challenge was creating smooth transitions between multiple visual formats while maintaining fast pacing, dynamic camera work, and nonstop energy that reflected the active spirit of the brand.

The “freeze-frame” moments where characters showcased collectible cards were enhanced with 3D treatment, creating visually striking highlights while clearly communicating the campaign’s concept.

Outdoor 3D Billboards

Project: OMO – Trồng mái ấm cho muôn loài

Client: OMO

Year: 2022

In 2022, 3D billboards began rapidly gaining popularity in Vietnam, and this project marked DeeDee’s first experience working with the format.

Unlike traditional animation, outdoor 3D billboards require movement and perspective to be carefully optimized for real-world viewing angles in order to create convincing depth illusions on LED screens.

The challenge was mastering techniques that allowed a 2D animated video to still deliver a strong 3D effect. The team spent significant time researching movement, perspective, and display technologies to ensure the illusion worked effectively.

Despite being DeeDee’s first attempt at the format, the studio quickly adapted and delivered a product that performed well both technically and visually.

Social short-form content

Project: Vinamilk Green Farm

Client: Vinamilk

Year: 2025

Completely different from the energetic tone of ADM, this series of short-form videos for Green Farm’s social media channels focused on a calm, relaxing atmosphere aligned with the nature-oriented identity of the product line.

Within videos lasting only around 10 seconds, DeeDee recreated a refreshing natural environment through richly textured visuals inspired by hand-painted artwork.

Each frame was optimized to quickly communicate freshness and a green lifestyle aesthetic that resonated with the brand’s adult target audience.

Long-Form Animated Series

Project: Fun with Traffic

Client: Honda Việt Nam

Year: 2020

Broadcast weekly on Vietnam’s national television channel VTV3, this educational series demanded an especially stable and efficient production pipeline.

Beyond maintaining a strict weekly release schedule, DeeDee also had to balance entertainment value with educational messaging about traffic safety for children.

Through relatable storytelling, vibrant visuals, and pacing suited for younger audiences, the 26-episode series received positive responses from both children and parents alike.

Educational Animated Short Film

Project: On My Mind

Client: UNICEF Việt Nam

Year: 2021

Created for World Children's Day 2021, the project aimed to raise awareness about mental health among children and teenagers.

Built around spoken-word poetry transformed into rap, DeeDee developed an emotionally rich visual system with fluid movements synchronized to the rhythm of the music. The animation visualized the invisible emotional pressures experienced by different family members.

In this project, animation functioned not merely as illustration, but as a storytelling language capable of creating empathy and opening meaningful conversations about mental health.
