A National Television Feature on DeeDee's Original IP
DeeDee's original IP Jelly's Bean was featured by Vietnam Today, Vietnam's national external television channel, in its report "Vietnam Animation Gains Momentum: Rise of Homegrown Animation IP."
The program highlighted Jelly's Bean as an example of a new generation of Vietnamese animation projects that are building original intellectual property instead of relying solely on outsourced production. It explored how locally created characters, stories, and visual worlds are becoming valuable creative assets with the potential to grow beyond a single film or platform.
The feature also expressed optimism that Vietnamese studios can increasingly transform local memories, cultural perspectives, and distinctive artistic voices into IPs capable of reaching audiences around the world.
DeeDee's Perspective on Vietnamese Animation Identity in Vietnam News
In the article "Vietnamese Animation Seeks to Define Its Own Identity" DeeDee's Art Director Hoang Ha shared his professional perspective on how Vietnamese animation can establish a distinctive identity in today's global industry.
Rather than relying on recognizable cultural symbols placed into a production for the sake of representation, Hoang Ha argued that identity should emerge naturally through storytelling, artistic vision, and creative choices.
“Instead, we aim to ignite sparks of passion through our own stories. When a work reaches maturity in both emotional depth and artistic quality, it can naturally resonate with audiences across borders.”
His viewpoint reflects DeeDee's own creative philosophy: authentic cultural identity is built through original perspectives rather than surface-level visual references.
Recognized as a Creative Partner on Cartoon Brew
Through an interview about the production of Sunny Side Down on Cartoon Brew - one of the animation industry's leading publications, DeeDee wasalso received recognition as a creative partner by MAKE.
Although DeeDee joined the project as an overseas production partner, the collaboration extended well beyond a traditional outsourcing relationship.
Series director Natalia Poteryakhin emphasized that DeeDee was fully integrated into the show's creative process:
"The collaboration wasn't treated as outsourced labor in the traditional sense. MAKE integrated the overseas team into the creative identity of the show."
She further acknowledged the creative contributions made by DeeDee's artists throughout production:
"We're putting all of their animators' names in our credits alongside ours; they also contributed creatively to this series."
The collaboration represents a broader shift taking place across today's animation industry. Instead of separating creative development from production, many digital-first studios are adopting hybrid pipelines where distributed teams collaborate as creative partners throughout the filmmaking process.
